Stephen Gannon, Marketing (ALO Host)
Steve Gannon, our Apple Lane Orchards Marketing Manager is your host for Marketing and Booking of Apple Lane Orchards for weddings, family vacations at the Olde Julian Farmhouse, and events like birthday parties, small outdoor reunions, and celebrations. A 35-year resident of the Julian area, Steve has been a teacher, a radio station manager, professional technical and creative writer, and author for 40 years. For seven years he was the Southern California Regional Manager for K-LOVE and Air1 Christian music radio (Eleven Radio Stations). He taught high school English for one year in Borrego and has subbed for many of the local schools for 35 years. If he looks familiar to you, Steve played the acclaimed part of Jacob Marley in Julian’s 2012 performance of A Christmas Carol , and he was the Julian Melodrama Villain in 2013 and 2014. Contacting our ALO Host is your first step in booking the Apple Lane Orchards facility for a Wedding, Event, or for renting the Olde Julian Farmhouse for a vacation or for sponsored or corporate events and getaways. Our ALO Host will take calls and questions, show the property by appointment, and help you get in touch with the right people to contract for weddings, events, and the farmhouse for your ideal family vacation. The wedding coordinator is the person behind the curtain making certain your wedding day goes as smoothly as possible–so you (hopefully) don’t have to worry about ANYTHING. They are not the person you call after you get engaged to help you pick out the perfect caterer, florist, photographer, or design details, but they will take all the hard work and research you’ve done and turn those plans into reality. You typically meet with a wedding coordinator several months or several weeks (depending on the service level you opt to get from them) before your wedding to go over your wedding timeline, guest count, venue details, and more. Our Apple Lane Weddings Preferred Wedding Coordinators attend to things like overall logistics of the event, maps and directions, parking, chair, bench, table, linen, furniture, and china accommodations. They often help devise a seating chart and day-of-wedding timeline and schedule (such as when the speeches would take places as well as the first dance and toast—all for a nominal fee. They make sure the tables are set on time, the guests are seated in the right spot, the ceremony starts and ends on time, things are packed up and sent back to the vendors, and that everything runs as smoothly as possible—freeing the bride, the bride’s family, and guests to enjoy the once in a lifetime moments of this special day.
Apple Lane Weddings is only in the business of renting land and facilities for weddings, events, and special occasions. Therefore we are discriminating in choosing Preferred Wedding Coordinators to lease our venue accommodations. A Wedding Coordinator offers varying levels of wedding planning and coordination, so it’s good to check with them to verify you’re not doubling up on efforts. Depending on your budget and the time you have to dedicate to planning a wedding, Apple Lane Weddings highly recommends using a wedding coordinator. In the end, the services you get from a good wedding coordinator are worth far more than you can do even with donated hours by yourself, family, and friends.
Before you decide whether to go with a wedding planner or wedding coordinator (or both), be sure to ask yourself these questions: Do you feel like you have the vision for your wedding and some contacts for professional services, but you don’t know the environment, logistics, contacts, or formalities of a wedding in the location of the wedding venue? Are you unsure of how to plan a timeline, schedule, a seating chart, weather and temperature, or how long the ceremony should last?. A wedding coordinator could be the best option for you. What is your general budget? Are you willing to spend at least 10-15% of that budget on a wedding planner? If not, a wedding coordinator could be easier on your wallet. At Apple Lane Orchards Weddings and Events we have two wedding approved Wedding Coordinators: Jessica Noble and Sherry Horton.

Jessica Noble is based in the beautiful back country of San Diego County in historic, Julian, CA. She services all of North County San Diego including Julian, Ramona, Escondido, Temecula, and surrounding areas.
Wedding Coordinator – Sherry Horton
Growing up in Ohio, Sherry brings a style of relaxed “Orchard Events” reminiscent of simpler times…. bringing her love of all things beautiful that she learned from her grandmother…. Sherry has been the proprietor of Oakwood Creek a stylized store in historic Julian …. her work has been featured in “San Diego Home and Garden magazine”.’ “Where Women Create Business” and Disneyland Florida…. her unique design style brings the love of nature with a sophisticated twist…..
Sherry Horton has been a powerful contributor to many successful Julian weddings. She can provide hand-crafted farmhouse tables with matching benches, her own unique selection of Old West but very elegant furniture, rivaling that found in an Old West Governor’s Ballroom.
Sherry Horton is a long-time resident of historic, Julian, CA. Her unique and vast personal and professional friendships in the Julian backcountry make her a powerful friend and mentor to the most-frugal yet hopeful Julian bride and groom. She services residents from all over San Diego looking for that special Julian country wedding reminiscent of earlier times.
